Taylor Kinney as Kelly Severide in ‘Chicago Fire’
They say nothing lasts forever, but so far we’ve only gotten a little over 11 seasons with Taylor Kinney playing the very crushable Kelly Severide on NBC’s Chicago Fire. When we first met Severide, he was the youngest firefighter to join the squad, but his dreams were all but destroyed by a back injury that led to his addiction to painkillers.

For about half of his time on the show, Severide was a bit of a playboy, but eventually settled down with fellow firefighter Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), whom he married at the end of Season 10. In Kelly’s case, actor Taylor Kinney has announced that he is stepping away from Chicago Fire. what happened to severide? Here’s what we know.

What happened to Severide in ‘Chicago Fire’?
We can’t say for sure what will happen to Severide, but we do know that Taylor Kinney is on hiatus. A source close to the production told Variety that Taylor was “taking time off to deal with personal issues.” It feels serious.
According to Deadline, “the cast and crew were apparently informed of Kinney’s leave early on Friday,” Jan. 20. As of this writing, we don’t know how much of season 11 has been filmed, or how involved Taylor’s Severide will be in the rest of the season. Either way, I hope all is well.

Could Taylor Kinney’s relationship be in trouble?
Who among us hasn’t taken time off work to nurse a broken heart? We hate to think about it, but perhaps Taylor is getting over the breakup. A model, Ashley Kruger, was smoothing out at Operation Smile’s 10th Annual Celebrity Ski and Smile Challenge. Hugging and kissing all over the ski slopes, the two fell in love like little kittens.

Ashley’s Instagram post with Taylor follows a similar cuteness timeline. She uploaded one of hers from the same golf excursion in July, and a carousel of events at the Chicago Sports Museum in September. (If you look closely at the last slide of the carousel, you can even see a large rock on her finger which is very interesting.)
What’s interesting, though, is the fact that neither of them have posted to Instagram since December. This may just be a coincidence. Holidays are tiring, but still fun.
