Nate is played by Maxwell Ace Donovan, best known for playing Wesley on the Disney Channel comedy show Gabby Duran & the Unsitables.

In an exclusive interview with Distraction, Maxwell opened up about his personal life, including how his family influenced his auditions for That ’90s Show. Keep reading to find out about the budding actor’s parents and more.

Maxwell A.C. Donovan in “That ’90s Show”

Maxwell Acee Donovan was set to play Nate on “That 90s Show.”

After Maxwell’s sister sent him a casting announcement for “That 90s Show,” his team submitted him and he auditioned.

“It was interesting. Character explanation [for Nate] It was “a Midwestern kid who grew up eating corn who wanted a Ford F-150.” And my grandfather gave me an old Ford F-150 for his 16th birthday. And I’m from the Midwest, so I’m like, ‘Okay!'” Maxwell told his Distractify, who felt at home with the lovable character from the start.

“Like October, I turned in the tape. And we didn’t hear anything until January of 2022. After about three months, I was like, ‘Oh, sorry, I don’t think that happened…'” he said. continued.

“Then I got a call from my agent in January. They said, ‘Hey, they’re going to take you back to another place.'” …and now here I am. Not fully processed yet. ’ Clearly, that was the intention.

Aside from the coincidence that brought Maxwell and Nate together, the actor said he was inspired by the innate warmth of his character.

“His first reaction is always kind. I like to think it is,” he said with a laugh.

More specifically, Maxwell feels he’s a blend of Nate and Gwen.

“In real life, I probably feel like a combination of Nate and Gwen, because I’m also very into grunge music and stuff like that,” Maxwell said.

Oh, we wish we could be as cool as Gwen.

Whether he travels to San Diego, the Grand Canyon or Paris, his family is always by his side.

Maxwell says his parents thought it was “cool” to name him “Mad Max”.

In an interview with Just Jared Jr., Maxwell revealed that his mother “thought it would be funny” and his father “thought it would be cool” if he was named Mad Max.

“Acey is from the Lebanese side. I’m also Greek and Scotch-Irish,” the actor shared.

“My mother is an archaeologist, which may be why I love to travel and learn about history. My family is very close, so I have a sister who can share the act and just be ready.” I’m lucky to have parents who are with us on any adventure!” he continued.

Maxwell A.C. Donovan started a conservation non-profit organization with his sister Claire.

Outside of his acting career, Maxwell is also active in nature conservation and has started a non-profit organization with his sister.

Additionally, Nature’s Negotiators is affiliated with The Jane Goodall Institute and its Roots and Shoots Youth Program.

Both Maxwell and his sister, Claire Margaret Donovan, are listed as ambassadors.
