The Emmy-winning series How I Met Your Mother was a hit from 2005 to 2014, cementing its position as a leading multi-camera sitcom. It sits on a pedestal alongside shows like Friends and Seinfeld. In fact, it was so successful that it spawned a spin-off series, How I Met Your Father.

The sitcom follows millennial protagonist Sophie (Hilary Duff) as she tries to figure out herself and what she wants out of life with a close group of friends. All this happens in the present. But in the future, viewers are introduced to her older Sophie (Kim Cattrall), who tells her son the story of how he met her father.
The gender-swapped spin-off features a number of characters, including those played by Josh Peck (Oppenheimer) and Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl). What fans want to know is if the latter actor will return for Season 2 of How I Met Your Father.

Is Leighton Meester in ‘HIMYF’ Season 2?
In Season 1 of How I Met Your Father, Leighton Meester plays a musician named Meredith who happens to be Jesse’s (Chris Lowell) ex-girlfriend and former bandmate. In the premiere episode, it was revealed that Jesse had publicly proposed to Meredith, a bold move that ended in disaster.

As for whether or not Leighton Meester will appear in Season 2, Today reports that viewers can definitely expect to see (and hear) more of The Weeknd Away star in the second installment.
In an interview with Variety, executive producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger discussed Leighton’s return for Season 2.
