Teen Wolf: The Movie is the sequel to the popular MTV series that ran for six seasons from 2011 to 2017. It will not only bring back old memories, but will also touch the heartstrings of Teen Wolf fans.

In an epic showdown between the Japanese demon and gang known as the Nogitsune, Scott’s “brother” Derek Hale (played by Tyler Hoechlin) is killed in the final battle.

Derek and Scott didn’t always see eye to eye, but Scott sums it up perfectly in the film: the two were like “brothers.”
While the team battles the ogres, Scott, Derek, and Derek’s teenage son Eli (Vince Mathis) are faced with defeating a powerful trickster demon known as the Nogitsune.
In the final moments of the fight, Scott and Derek hold off Nogitsune. However, he told the two werewolves that he could not burn the Nofox while Scott and Derek were holding him.

Seeing his son Eli and his longtime friends, Derek decides to sacrifice himself, allowing Jordan to set both him and the Nofox on fire. , his werewolf eyes change from blue to red.
So what does that mean?

Derek Hale becomes a “true alpha” in the final moments of “Teen Wolf: The Movie.”
To become an alpha within Teen Wolf’s realm, the werewolf must kill the alpha in order to usurp his position as pack leader and gain power. However, in season 3 of the series, Scott refuses to kill his enemies and becomes a “true alpha”.
Although rare, true Alphas are born of Betas and become natural leaders through strength of character, virtue, and their “sheer force of will”. Alan Deaton tells Scott in Season 3 .
Derek becomes Alpha at the end of Season 1 after killing his uncle.
Eventually Scott agrees to be the leader of the pack, and Derek becomes his Beta. However, at the end of Teen Wolf: The Movie, Derek finally seems to have regained his alpha status.

By sacrificing himself for the greater good, Derek certainly showed strength in his character and willpower, becoming a true Alpha.
