The Big Ten is one of the biggest and best conferences in college basketball. In 2023, the Big Ten has qualified eight teams to the Men’s NCAA Tournament, led by the #1 seed Purdue Boilermakers. The teams were announced on Selection Sunday.
The Big Ten tied the SEC with the most teams in this year’s 2023 NCAA Tournament. 16 teams participated in the league, and half of the teams performed spectacular dances. This is a really good result for a highly competitive conference.

Purdue and Indiana are the most rated teams in the Big Ten in the NCAA Tournament. These are usually the teams that have made the most progress, but we expect some of these Big Ten teams to pull off some upsets.
Either way, I think Purdue will at least advance to the Elite 8 in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, but we’ll have to see how the game goes.
Unfortunately, Rutgers Scarlet Knights was one of the First Four Outs. That meant they could have qualified for the tournament, but he was one of four teams who didn’t. Had Rutgers qualified for the tournament, the Big Ten would have fielded the most teams from the conference compared to any other conference.
