Across the world, Hair transplant surgery is considered the last resort to regrow the hair in the bald area of the head. Among multiple available methods and surgeries, FUE Transplant is proved to be the best until 2021.

Almost 60% of men around the world suffer from the issues of baldness. In severe cases, people adopt the solution of surgeries. There are different transplant surgeries, and people are confused about selecting the best option for them.

Though surgery may seem a promising solution yet, it is not for everyone. If you’re heading for any transplant, go through these checks to know your eligibility.

Hair Transplant surgery is promising solution to regain a youthful personal image.

Who Can Have a Hair Transplant Surgery?

An ideal candidate must possess an appropriate amount of hair on some parts of the skin. Otherwise, the results will not be much effective.

In the case of an FUE transplant, the candidate must have some healthy follicles on the skin. Follicles are pockets that hold your hair on the scalp. These healthy follicles are then implanted in the area of loss. In other cases, if the candidate is left with few hairs on the skin, then it means the follicles are weak. Such weak follicles cannot produce the desired result after surgery.

The surgeons determine the eligibility before transplant using the Norwood scale. This scale assesses your level of baldness. Extreme baldness can be a result of different sickening medical conditions such as alopecia.

Youngsters also struggle to achieve better results for such transplants. This is because their scalp is tight and is less acceptable for implantations. Also, young age means you would require more operations as hair loss will continue with time.

Types of Hair Transplant Surgery?

Multiple methods of surgeries have evolved throughout history. The first transplant was done in 1939 with a single scalp in Japan. Over time, scientific research has carved out the two most doable transplant methods: FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantations) and FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). However, modern research has also provided an option of the Stem-cell method, but it is yet to prove its authenticity.

Let’s get a glimpse of all these surgeries and see how they work out: –

 FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation)

The sessions of this method involve the removal of the patient’s healthy scalp. Doctors usually take a piece of a patient’s skin from the back of the head. And then divide that scalp into desirable units. These units are then transplanted over required areas. The wound of the previously removed scalp is closed by stitches.

The method is painful and gives a less natural look as the hairs do not grow in a natural pattern of growth. So, the scalp implantations give a less natural look to the head.

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)

This surgery is less painful than that of FUT. The reason is that it does not involve removing the whole patch of skin, as in the case of FUT. Instead, Doctors will take out individual follicles from the back of the head and implant them over the areas of baldness.

The removal of follicles may leave tiny scars on the skin, but these scars are less visible in the longer run. FUE is an outpatient surgery after which patients can go back home. The patient usually recovers in 3 to 4 days after the surgery.

FUE is a promising permanent solution for hair loss. The reason is that new follicles are nourished by natural blood flow.

FUE hair transplant surgery is effective and less invasive.

Stem-cell hair restoration surgery

Through modern clinical studies, Stem-cell surgery has emerged as a new option. However, it is still under research-based observations and clinical trials. It is expected to be available by 2022 or 2023 in Europe.

This method also involves the removal of the tissue from the skin of the patient. Later on, the required sort of cells is extracted from these tissues. These cells are then multiplied in labs. These cells are then implanted into the bald area of the head.

Allogeneic-cell hair restoration surgery

This method is based on the implanting of cells of one person’s scalp into the other one. Therefore, it reduces a lot more pain in the procedure. But this method is still under research phases.

Along with Stem-cell, Allogeneic-cell surgery has yet to prove its efficacy. Till the time they are validated, the only reliable and proven hair transplant surgery is FUE. It is mostly preferred over FUT due to various factors.
