Pakistanis have the audacity of blatantly rejecting the talent present in Pakistan and humiliating them and the idea of upbringing them in society.

Wisaal khan, the archery federation secretary, once rejected Muhammad Ijaz’s ideology of working on blind people, mocked him off by saying, “jayen sir, rasta naapain. ab hum ye e kaam krne k liye reh gaye hain.” (Leave this alone and focus on something else as we have other matters to take care of). Ijaz Khaliq, son of late Muhammad Khalid, also known as Bird of Asia, showed him what he could and what he can do.

Abdul Khaliq (late), also known as the bird of Asia (Parinda e Asia), came from a small village of Chakwal to set a record in sprint racing and got this title from the Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He dubbed him “the flying bird of Asia” upon winning a gold medal for 100m and a silver medal for the 4×100 rally race.

After his father, Muhammad Ijaz, is on breaking records and eager to make a name like his father. He had been thinking of something unique in games to set an example in this entire world. While thinking of something, he thought of choosing a game that has been played and liked by our Holy Prophet (PBUH), ARCHERY.

With a lot of hope, energy, and special techniques, he has started training his special players himself with confidence and courage in Liaqat Baagh Sports Complex in Liaqat Baagh. For this, he has chosen 3 men;

  1. Tanveer: his own student who can feel things approximately to 3-4 m
  2. Waleed: a headmaster in a local school who is a totally blind player.
  3. Waheed: a resident who has been a part of the Pakistan Cricket Team, is also a totally blind player.

They all lie in the category of V1 and V2 of the visual cortex.

Usually, the players use their eyesight to shoot the target, whereas these special players use a backhand sight to shoot their target. With the help of a stand (of their height), they are taught by setting their hand and leg on the marked areas to shoot the target accordingly, as shown in the following figures.

To reach the target that is 18m, they are taught the readings of the board. The player is considered best if he shoots in the form of sets. Being a blind person this the best achievement. But M. Ijaaz being hopeful, says that they will be in the leading list of Pakistani archers and will definitely take them to the international level of archery.

He has been offered some funds and invitations for this purpose.

Earlier, he trained blind girls who played on the national level and kept in view the success of the later game; he expects the best results this time.

While quoting Iqbal’s verse, Muhammad Ijaz said,

“Future depends on the effort you put in, sometimes Allah lets you decide what you want, and that is the time you need to put your force in to succeed or back out.”

Pakistani Blind Archer Tanveer Ahmed participated in worldwide Archery competitions in 2020 under the splendid coaching of Muhammad Ejaz.

He participated in the competition held Worldwide, head 2 head Online Archery competition from 6-8 May 2020. The top 5 blind archers from UK, USA, Australia, and Pakistan participated, and Tanveer Ahmed from Pakistan took 3rd position.

Proud moment, right? Yes, for a selflessly bringing up such a category of our society in front of us, who holds no place and people consider them useless.

Later on, 6th of June 2020, I Participated in Virtual Endeavour Games 2020 and Scored 227/360 and got 2nd place.
Special Thanks to my coach Muhammad Ijaz and District Sports Officer Rawalpindi Mr. Shams Toheed Abbasi for special arrangements at Sports Complex Rawalpindi for the event

Seeing this achievement level and gaining confidence in himself and his team, he trained three people and applied for Italy International Online Archery Tournament. Where he got an Official Confirmation from the Italy International Online Archery Tournament “Never Give Up.”

Pakistan Blind Archery Clinched 2 Gold & 1 Silver Medal
1. Waleed Aziz Gold Medal in VI-1 Catagory
2. Tanveer Ahmed Gold Medal in VI-2 Catagory
3. Rimsha Silver Medal in VI-1 Catagory

His hard work paid off in the form of the second prize won by Tanveer Ahmed, a very proud moment for the son of Asia’s flying bird.

Seeing his players succeed, he organized another event, the 2nd Para Archery National Ranking Tournament, on the 3rd of Dec, 2020, with the media coverage and successfully pulled it out.

What can one not do what he aims for.
